I’m kinda sick of me.

I’ve been working on my latest author newsletter. It’s two months late. (My last one went out in February.)

Here’s what the people-that-know say, “If you want to be a successful author you need to build an email list and communicate with them regularly.”

I get that – personal contact and all. Makes complete sense.

Until I sit down to write the newsletter and then I just feel silly.

It’s all me-me-me-me and my-books-my-books-my-books, with not so subtle hints tossed in about how you might want to buy one of my books.

Why would anyone want to read a newsletter like that?

Again and again, I commit to sending a newsletter every month but then the time comes around and I have better things to do. I’m busy. I have no news. I have nothing worth the effort of an entire newsletter.

In previous newsletters, I’ve tried to counter all the me-me-me-buy-my-book-me-me-me with lots of giveaways.

I put my favorite killer recipes in there.

And book recommendations, I add those too.

This year, I began including a writing tip.

So, see? It’s not all about me.

And yet it is.

I had planned to send out the latest epistle today, but then I chickened out and wrote this blog post instead. The newsletter is too long, too preachy, too asky and not enough givey. So I’m still tweaking it and hoping to send it on its way next week sometime.

That noise? Oh, that was just me dragging my feet.

Hopefully, I won’t trip before I finally hit that ‘send’ button.

If you’d like to subscribe to my rare (but givey) newsletter, here’s the link just in case I finally send it.

Meanwhile, I hope you have a stellar weekend.

We’ll be welcoming our 108th (and possibly 109th) foster dog!

And my husband will be risking his life. (Cooking shrimp for Mother’s Day even though he’s allergic to it – that’s how much he loves me!).

So, happy Mother’s Day to all you moms and mom-like souls (you don’t have to be a mother to be a mother)! Thanks for reading. I know you’ve got lots of better things to do, so thanks for sharing a few of your minutes with me.

Honored,

Cara
