Today is Practicing Normal’s book birthday!
The long wait is over and it is officially published! Shew!
Now it’s time for the book tour! I’ll be on tour with Practicing Normal for the next two months!
Really?
Really.
Only I’m not leaving my house.
(It’s a blog tour.)
Just in case you’ve never heard of a blog tour – let me explain.
Publishers don’t spend money sending authors on book tours anymore. It’s not only that there simply aren’t that many book stores to visit, it’s also that people don’t show up for book signings. It’s much easier, cheaper, and apparently, more effective, to spread the word via the internet.
A book blog tour company sets up the blog tour for the publisher – securing book bloggers to ‘host’ the author in the form of an interview, a book review, or a guest post. Occasionally, it’s a simple shout out and sometimes there’s an excerpt. Most, if not all, of these bloggers do not get paid for their efforts. (But the blog tour company does, of that you can be sure.) What the bloggers get is free books and notoriety and the chance to interact with authors.
(Yes, I am also amazed that these remarkable people do this for nothing. If you happen along to one of my tour stops, be sure to comment on their posts – that’s another way they get paid – comments, likes, and shares.)
There are a few big name authors out there who do real tours, and sure, I’m jealous, but until I’m a big name author, I’m happy to do my touring from the comfort of my couch, with a dog beside me.
So, for the months of June and July, you will find my face or my book cover on blogs all over the world. The blog tour list is posted below, just in case you want to follow along at home.
Thanks for reading! If you’d like to know more about me and my books, visit CaraWrites.com.
And if you’d like regular updates, be sure to subscribe to this blog by email (see sidebar) or sign up for my (sometimes) monthly newsletter – it not only details my exploits, but includes an awesome recipe and a giveaway in each edition!
Oh, and if you really like dogs, visit my other blog, Another Good Dog, where I write about our adventures fostering dogs (and puppies) for the all-breed rescue, Operation Paws for Homes.
Blessings,
Cara
